When will I receive my score? 

Your score will be mailed to you within 4 weeks after the examination is over. 

Why can’t I get instant test results?

The scoring process involves several steps of checking and rechecking the data for accuracy. An analysis of each question on the examination is conducted prior to finalizing the scoring.

Can I get my score over the phone or faxed to me?

As test results are confidential, they will be only be sent by regular mail. Your results cannot be faxed, emailed, or released over the telephone.

After I send in my application, when should I get a reply?

You should receive a response within 10 days after you have mailed your test application to us. If you have not heard from PTC after 10 days, please call us at 212-356-0660 or email us at ptcny@ptcny.com.

Can I get a copy of the questions and answers on my examination?

Due to examination security, the test questions and answers are not able to be released to candidates.

I can’t find my Eligibility Notice or Admission Notice (or I never received one)– what should I do?

You must bring either an Eligibility Notice or Admission Notice with your current photo ID to the test center on the day of your examination.  To receive a duplicate notice, please call our office at 212-356-0660 and we will fax one to you.

What else do I need to bring with me to the test center?

Please look under “Rules For The Examination” in your Handbook for Candidates.

I missed the application deadline – can I still apply?

There is a short grace period after the application deadline, but please call us at 212-356-0660 and we will let you know if late applications are still being accepted.

My certification requires that I submit documentation with my application. Can I send in the documentation separately?

Your application, fees, and all required documentation should be sent at the same time.   

How can I study for my examination?

There is a Content Outline and Reference list in your Handbook for Candidates, along with several sample questions.  You can also check with the association or certification board for additional test preparation suggestions.  PTC does not provide formal study guides or sample examinations.

How can I request Special Needs Accommodation for my examination?

Special testing arrangements will be made for individuals with special needs. Submit the Application, Examination Fee, and a completed and signed Request for Special Accommodations Form, available here: Request for Special Accommodations Form
or by calling PTC at (212) 356-0660.

Requests for special testing for individuals with special needs must be received at least EIGHT weeks before the testing date.
