Before you apply for your examination, be sure to refer to the Test Information page for the Handbook for Candidates where you will find eligibility requirements, fees, rules, and general examination information.

 

When you are ready to apply for your examination, you can head to the PTC Online Application System and follow the steps below.

Step 1

Click on “Start a New Application”

Step 2

Choose your examination sponsor from the drop down menu

Step 3

Choose your examination period from the next drop down menu

Step 4

Enter the information required, then click “Start New Application” at the bottom of the screen

Step 5

Fill out the application completely and click “Submit” when finished

Tip: check the Handbook for Candidates to see if you are required to upload any additional documentation with your application.

Step 6

Submit payment

  • Some applications require review of eligibility. You will receive an email confirming submission of your application immediately; applications are generally approved within 5-10 business days of submission (however, due to volume, approval can take longer if you are applying on or near the application deadline). If paying by credit card, you will receive an email confirming submission of your application as well as receipt of payment. Once your application is approved, you will receive notification via email. Please see your examination’s Handbook for Candidates for additional information.
  • Some examinations use a paper application. These are found at the end of the Handbook for Candidates for that exam. Please click here for the Test Information page.
