Association of Movement Disorder Advanced Practice Providers (AMDAPP™) Selects Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) to Develop Credential for Movement Disorders for Advanced Practice Providers
New York, NY
July 20, 2023
The Association of Movement Disorder Advanced Practice Providers (AMDAPP™) has chosen Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) to conduct a job task analysis and provide exam development, application processing, test delivery, and scoring services for a new certification program for advanced practice providers (APPs) in the field of movement disorders.
Kelly Papesh, DNP and Executive Director of AMDAPP™ says, “We are on a mission to create and offer a certification in movement disorders to the field of APPs to raise visibility, increase excellence and quality of care, and gain more expert-trained providers to help manage the ever-growing number of people being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.”
“Credentials are earned and awarded by a recognized professional organization to verify one’s professional qualifications and competence. Earning a credential as an Advanced Practice Provider in Movement disorders will earn respect, recognition and educational value to the entire Movement Disorders team.” adds Sherrie Gould, NP-C and Certification Board, Chair.
The job task analysis survey will delineate the major domains of practice, tasks, and knowledge areas needed to practice as an advanced practice provider in the field of movement disorders. The results of the survey will guide item writing and exam development activities to ensure that the new certification program reflects current best practices.
AMDAPP will be utilizing PTC’s exam development and delivery products and services, including application processing, candidate communications, item banking, scoring and reporting, and psychometrics.
The exam will be available globally at Prometric computer-based testing centers.
“AMDAPP recognizes the need to establish a sound certification program for advanced practice providers working with patients with Parkinson’s and other types of movement disorders. We are thrilled to partner with AMDAPP on their new endeavor,” says Vicki Gremelsbacker, President of PTC. “We are confident that PTC’s expertise and services will help bring a much needed certification program to the field of movement disorders.

About Association of Movement Disorder Advanced Practice Providers (AMDAPP™)
The Association of Movement Disorder Advanced Practice Providers (AMDAPP™) is a professional network built for APPs by APPs in movement and related disorders to connect, refuel their inspiration, deep dive into further education, and collaborate to enhance the lives of their patients. AMDAPP™ is the only network for movement and related disorder APPs, based on available data to be more than 30,000 strong.
AMDAPP’s origins began in 2019 when the Parkinson & Movement Disorder Alliance (PMD Alliance) recognized the need for an organized, collective network to ensure there is support for an essential part of the Movement Disorder Care & Support Ecosystem©. As a first step, the APProvider™ Advisory Board was created to build a continuum of services including an online discussion group, APP-specific continuing medical education (CME) courses, and a first-of-its-kind APP Congress.
Now, as a stand-alone association, AMDAPP™ believes the APP whole-person, patient-centric approach to care continues to align closely with the philosophies and practices of PMD Alliance. This synergistic relationship will inform, empower, and enrich APPs and their patients for years to come.
